The Holliston Panthers Boys Soccer Team is looking to make a deep run into states this year. The Panthers need at least three points in their next three games to make it to states and the team feels like this is very accomplishable. They are 6-6-1 as of right now and have three very winnable games left. The Panthers play Medway on Tuesday 10/26, Bellingham on Friday 10/29, and Ashland on Tuesday 11/2. The team’s record of 6-6-1 however does not show how good they are. Their season has had some ups and downs, but ultimately they have played with some of the best in the TVL. They beat Medfield and tied Dover Sherborn, the number one and two teams in the TVL.
Senior Captain Matt Donovan controls the midfield and leads the team in points. He has had a spectacular season and looks to lead the team into the postseason. Joe Ramirez-Brodeur joins Donovan at the midfield as another offensive weapon. Trevor Alper and Mike Chaput are the team’s dangerous strikers. Holding down the defense are Jared Emmons and freshman Troy Waddell. As for the Panther’s goalie, the team welcomed a new face to the family this year in Senior Max Greenberg. Greenberg, having never played soccer in high school, tried out for goalie as a senior and won the job. Captain Matt Donovan says that “Max has been amazing for us, he is everything we wanted in a goalie and more. He came into the season willing to learn and now I believe he is one of the top keepers in the league.”
The Panthers expect to be very successful in states as they recently meshed and become a lot closer as a team. Donovan expects the team to make a legitimate run in states and that they will “surprise many teams because we are a whole new team and are a family now and everyone wants it real bad.” Come and support the Panthers as they go far into the postseason.
